Its been a month

The month mark came and went, we noticed, but its hard to believe the changes in Brayden in that time. On the 18th we had him in our care for one month, and then yesterday he became 23 months old. Almost two, its coming up fast! He is walking so much better than the first day, he is making more sounds all the time. There aren't many distinguishable words yet, but that will come I am sure. He is back to sleeping through the night so that is very nice. Altho mom and dad both would like to have a full eight hours or better again, sometime soon. Don't know that we will ever know what it feels like to truly be rested, but its something we can hope for! Brayden still loves to be outside with daddy, but the weather does dictate as does daddy's work load. Not every day can be a quiet day in the shop, so we have to pick and choose which days he can go out there. Today is a house day and he really has done pretty good. There is plenty to do in here, its just not as dusty or fun!! Will let this do for now, just wanted to mark the dates of progress.

SOOOO busy

We are staying busy, guess that will never change now. Its ok, our little boy is busy too. We find like many other parents before us that its not what came in the box that is soooo fun, its the box. This box contained a puppy that sings and talks with buttons on the feet, tummy, nose, ear etc. He loves the puppy now that the box has disappeared. But for that one night, that box was more than just a box, it was a chair that fit him just right. That same night daddy's shoes were just the best, they didn't fit very good, but they were fun to try to walk in. We find that he is most lively and giggly with just us, when others are around he is still pretty shy. He is getting around that some, once he has seen someone, then the next time its not so bad. We have learned that he eats the best when we just let him feed himself. He makes quite a mess sometimes, but part way through he doesn't mind our help. At least to finish up he doesn't mind help. We just had to remember that he used to do it all for himself, so that would explain keep away with the spoon. :-) Just have to think things through a little and then we can figure out the whys behind some of the behavior. The long extended learning curve...its pretty vast territory. One new thing that Brayden and Daddy are enjoying is lots of shop time. Brayden usually goes out with daddy in the morning for a few hours and then sometimes in the afternoon if I am behind he goes out after his nap for a while too. I am not sure who drags more shop dust into the house, but I am beginning to think that small packages pack a lot of dust. The shop should be getting cleaner by the looks of him at the end of the day. Will try to get a pic of it soon and put it up here. He usually has wood dust everywhere on every inch, face included. One could say he really gets into it and loves it!!

Mom back to work

The pics really show how industrious our little boy is!! He loves to be busy and mom's office is no different. I have a basket of toys down there and still he finds all kinds of other stuff to play with. I know its more fun to play with things that aren't toys. I pick up messes at the end of each project so I can walk around. Its working out pretty well as he does keep himself busy and doesn't need to be held all the time. Altho one wouldn't be able to tell that right now as I type this. He wants up here so bad, but its just so he can play with the keyboard!! Best let this do for now and get him headed for bed.

Labor Day

Its been a busy weekend with family coming to see our little boy. He has really been the feature this week! The really interesting thing is that he seems to know it and really puts on a show. Wouldn't call it always a good show, but its a show. Right down to meal time included, wouldn't want anyone to miss out on those antics. We have learned keep away with the spoon and smear mama with potatoes. All to the families great pleasure and laughter. We tried to remind them that it wasn't ALL funny, but that never stops the laughing! Now its quieted back down to just the three of us and we are beginning the recovery process again. One thing that Brayden is really enjoying and picking up on is the telephone. One of our friends had purchased a little toy phone so I got it out this morning and let him play with it. He is just getting the hello down so it sounds like hello. It is so fun to hear him start to say things.

Good morning

After another night of sleeping clear through, we are having a great morning. Its just cool enough that the skeeters don't like it and windy enough that they can't really fly. We spent a good hour outside this morning just playing on the slide and then went to see daddy in the shop. He thought we should have another cute pic for the blog, so its already posted. We want everyone to know that we hope to raise another cabinet maker, and perhaps he is on his way. Roger took him out last night to shut the shop down and Brayden picked up all the sticks under the big door clamp and was loving clacking them together. And so it was this morning too, picked up sticks right away to click together. But the high light was when daddy put him up on the saw. Now that was good fun. Best get on with the rest of our day. Our quiet time this morning went really well, all 30 min of it. But its progress none the less. We have just figured out a new sippy cup with a straw, now that is so much fun we may drown!! :-)

Now if only this saw was my size. :-)
