Sittin and Singin

I think we are playing mtg here...he is just singin away, at some point perhaps I will have a site for videos too, but for now, just imagine...

Foot stomping good time

He is sitting next to his farm blocks set that sings farmer songs, he reaches over and pushes the button to get a song and then sits there stomping his feet to the music. His knee is up in this pic.

Playing music together

Joe was playing the piano a bit, Brayden thought he would help out!!

Up close!

Relaxing with Grandpa

We were up at Grandpa and Granny's last weekend, this was just a relaxing time with "papa".

Far Far BEHIND!!

Once again, I am soooo very far behind that I have been receiving emails and phone calls about the lack of info on this blog!! :-) Its good to be reminded and to know that some are still watching to see whats going on next.

We have made great strides in the potty training...at least he isn't fighting it anymore, he is actually doing very well. We go most days without an accident, as long as mama keep the timer going. Its more of mama being trained than anything right now, but he will continue to pick it up and will move off on his own with it pretty soon I would imagine. Its ok and sure better than diapers all day long. He loves his underwear, they have trains and cars on them, most of you might be aware that anything with WHEELS is a fav toy!! He is very mechanical and loves to see just how thing work. He is figuring out the cars that rev up and go on their own, ya know the ones you wind up by rolling on the floor and then let go and they really go. :-) They are good fun for him and keep him moving!

We have also started the count to three if he doesn't do as we have asked. He has it all figured out and goes to two almost every time, heads for three then looks at us and runs to whatever we have asked of him. Pushing the very limits just like every kid out there. The good thing is he knows where the limit is and doesn't usually cross it. He is figuring out though that in public things are a bit different. :-( We had hoped that would be awhile in getting figured out, but alas he is a very smart little boy!! Yesterday I was counting and when I got to two...he said two with me!! Like I said very smart. We are beginning to hear new words every week anyway.

We had his ears checked by our very special friend and audiologist last week. It appears my struggle with his right ear isn't over. He still has a build up of wax in it, however she did a test on it and said that the ear drum does move freely, so he is hearing ok in that side, it just could be better. Back to the hydrogen peroxide and water drops to get it out. It works to do that in his bath best, don't have to worry where the excess goes. :-)

Will let this do for the text update...one last thing, Grandpa and Dorthea had asked about his shades in that pic...yes they are on upside down...he likes to wear them both ways!! The ear pieces are often on the outside of his ears too, not over the top of them. Doesn't seem to matter to him, just as long as they are on his face!
Take care all, have a good week.

Incognito...don't tell mom where I went...

Just me and my monkey haning out...

Still nice hat...

At least we are back in the bathroom...

New hat...

Well its not really a hat...so guess what we are NOT wearing...

Have to wear shoes...

For some reason he had to have his shoes on no matter what. Obviously mom got tired of changing underwear and pants, so we are just down to underwear. So long as they are a bit thick...its not tooo much risk!!

Another week is gone!

We finally got some snow, but its soooo cold that we can't even go out and enjoy it. And really its soo dry that we couldn't build a snowman if we wanted to. Instead we are staying inside and potty training. Wow what a job. Brayden is finally coming around to it and not being so stubborn about it. We have a few accidents every day, but its not as bad as it was, so progress is being made. I had forgotten how much work it really is to train a child. One book I read said to remember that we are trying to remove a habit the child has had for two years and give them a new habit all at once. For perspective we were to find a habit in ourselves that we had tried to change and has it changed or did we give up on it because it was tooo much work. All in all thats a pretty good perspective, not that I can always keep it in mind!!! :-) It has definitely been an experience I hope to soon forget. For now though he is doing pretty good with it all. We have had some funny moments and some not so funny.

Brayden continues to pick up words. In meeting he sometimes will repeat the hymn choice for everyone. Not that you can understand all of it...but he has the sylables right. His list of words that are right is getting longer. It just takes time and effort. We have to remember to speak slower too. He knows all the features on his face, his hands, legs, feet, toes, etc and the sounds most animals make. Its all progress and he is making it in leaps and bounds. It has now been five months since we have had custody, in many ways not so long and in many ways it seems he has always been here. Until next time...take care.

You just must know this....

Brayden was writing on his paper, when I walked into the kitchen, he just burst into this long story complete with all the hand signs!! It didn't make any sense to me...but he loved telling it anyway and I loved hearing all about it.

Calling in SICK!!

The phone is still a huge toy for him, even in bed, must be calling in sick!!

Reading in a basket

Actually in the video there is a bit of singing going on, more than reading!!! He loves this basket, it hold his toys for upstairs when he isn't sitting in it!!

Back to Normal

Now that the holidays are over, it is back to normal life here in our household, or as normal as it can be. We have been busy with various things, not much that is awfully important though. Brayden is continuing to chat up a storm, not much can be understood, but he is getting a few more words to come out right. For now though its just fun to listen to him babble. We all three went to the shop the other day to work for the morning. It was fun to watch him play out there, usually when mama goes to the shop all play stops and he just wants held. This time, mama was staying for a while so it was ok to play. I tried to get some video of things, but it just doesn't work so well when it takes so much time to get the gloves dried off, then taken off and the camera picked up and turned on, well its just tooo many things to do to get the video started and by then the "cute" is over and done with. He now has two recepticle phones out there, those outlets are a wonderful toy. Roger was telling me that yest morn he was playing along and suddenly he RAN across the shop picked up that recepticle phone and started talking away walking back across the shop to where he was playing. After talking a bit he laid it down and went on with playing, wandered away from it a bit, and then again suddenly RAN across to the phone, like he heard it ring...picked it up and started talking away. He really enjoys the whole phone thing. Uncle Bobby called this morning and said he had one missed call on his phone and it said "Dawn's cell"...well three guess who was calling, it wasn't me, I was doing laundry and Roger was in the shop...so for family in our cell phone book, if you get a call...its probably Brayden. Amity got a call a few mornings ago while we were cooking breakfast too, all she heard was "can Daddy have the phone?"...so she called back and we let him talk to her for a bit. He just really loves the phone, course thats mostly all mama does with her day. :-) I am trying to quit my job though so there will be more time with our little man before he outgrows some things, like being rocked to sleep etc.
We had our visit for the first postplacement report yesterday. Was fun to go back and listen to how we had gone over things on the first visit right after we got home. Lots of things have changed in just 4 months. One of the things that is MOST changed is that when we got home he was waking up 3 or 4 times a night and now for a long time he has slept all through the night. We would forget these changes over time, with the post placement visits, we will be more aware of them.
Hope all is well out in our world of family and friends this week. Here we have a blizzard for the first time this winter. It is COLD out there, last time I looked the therm said 2.5 degrees with a wind, so the chill factor would be minus 20 or so I would guess. Until next time...take care.

New Years Morning

Mama's big helper, we woke up whiney this morning, so it needed a diversion. Stirring the eggs has been a favorite thing to do on some mornings, he has gotten pretty good at it, not slopping any either. He doesn't like it when they have to be poured into the pan and cooked, but he does like it when its time for them to be put on his plate and ready for him to eat. Its the middle part that he doesn't think is any fun. Must have something to do with the fact that the middle part is the part he CAN'T do!!

King on the Mountain

Of Daddy's tummy that is...

My first CAR

He just loves his car...its so much fun, but it doesn't always go around the corners real good, we get stuck some.

Pool time

The first pic is the intertube, he loved that tube, mostly to stand in it and flip it off over his head. But laying on it was ok too as long as he got to spin a bit. The next pic he is standing on the step clapping his hands making us wait until he decided to dive into mama's arms. He just loves to wait until the perfect moment to get the most reaction he can get. Then finally comes the biggest giggle and a dive into the water, hope mama catches me!! :-) Of course mama didn't fail to catch him, he just loved it!!

Splashing is such fun
