Its almost school pic time again, so Alan was needing subjects to practice on, well this little boy cooperated for a little while. Of course we started it out with our annual fam pics then went to the shop to do these on the background. This one turned out especially good.
Yesterday we took Brayden in for an evaluation by child development services. He scored well in gross and fine motor skills but is a bit low on communication, problem solving and personal social skills. The question she asked was did he know he was a boy vs girl, well he didn't know that because I didn't know to teach him that. She also asked him to say his name, well he didn't know that either. Needless to say after we got in the pickup I was quizzing him on being a boy and saying his name!! Otherwise, she said that considering where he came from, he is doing very well!! I have some charts now to look at to know where he should be for age 3 and we are working on getting him to those points. All in all a good evaluation. Altho he had wax in his ear again, we had a long bath this morning to try to loosen it up, hope we are successful.

I also want to say, "Are you kidding me!?!" First of all, what two year old (he's somewhere around two, right?) really *knows* the difference between boy/girl. Errg. They're babies still! Most of the time they're just glad that they have a friend! :) Second, isn't it true that boys, in general, are a little behind than girls.
I think he's doing just fine and phooey on those tests.
That's all I have for now. :)

Did I have a conversation at Casper Special Meeting with you about having to change babies on the dirty bathroom floor?
I lurked from Jen's blog and just figured out who you were!!

Answer for Jocelyn, yes, we did have that conversation last year!! I hope it will be different this year for all babies! We aren't in diapers anymore, but wouldn't wish the changing issue on anyone. Perhaps there will be a different venue. We found you off Jen's blog too, and wow your little girl has grown!! Your mom looks very familiar, what is her name and where are you all from now??
Thanks Jen for backing up my own opinions on the evaluation. I shared it with my own personal advisor (the girl next door with the degree in child develp) and she was surprised they didn't do the eval in our home where he would perform the best. She asked one of her daycare kids (a month younger than B) if he was a boy or girl and he couldn't say, neither could he say his name, so there ya go and he is an only child not adopted. That just reaffirmed my thought that he isn't really behind at all.

My parents are Tim and Myrna...They live county #2. Craig, Brooklyn and I live 80 miles north of there. I don't like to say too many specifics on blogs for security reasons, but hopefully you can figure out what I'm talking about. :)
